What do most people think of this time of year? March Madness, The Masters, Spring Training and of course COOKIES! But not just any cookies Girl Scout Cookies. No one can deny these cookies are delicious and are only available once a year but these young girls are doing so much more throughout the year.

There's a common (and unfortunate) misconception out there that certain industries are perfectly fine relying less on technology than others. Social workers, healthcare workers and people in similar professions don't necessarily have a pressing urge for information management and case management software because most of their day is spent in-person.

We have all seen children and adults with Downs Syndrome at some point in our life. Some of our families have actually been directly affected by this.

I still have a full set of Windows 3.11 on 3.5’ floppies. It was a wonderful time. With a bit of 10 BASE2 coax cable, BNC T-connectors, network interface cards (NICs), and a couple of 50 ohm terminators we could get computers to talk to one another. How could we forget the fun we had getting the interrupts set properly on the bus cards. And when it was all done, our first foray into network gaming, Duke Nukem, roared to life. Of course I figured out early how to use the mouse instead of the keyboard. The kids never knew what hit ‘em.

Congress enacted the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act in 1974 and ushered in a new era of enlightenment in juvenile justice.  The original law provided for the deinstitutionalization of status offenders requiring that youth who are runaways, truants, or curfew violators cannot be detained in juvenile detention facilities or adult jails.

Last week we published part one of our interview with J.A. Leyrer, MSW, a colleague who has recently retired after working in drug and alcohol rehabilitation for thirty years. Ms. Leyrer was a pioneer in the field of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy who combined the concept of mindfulness with traditional CBT techniques to guide clients through their journey of self-discovery.
