When I was younger, all I wanted from my manager or supervisor was that they knew something about what I did, so they could give me guidance.  There was always an understanding between us and I could feel good knowing we were on the same page.  I had the most respect for that leader that backed me up when I wasn’t there, went to bat for me knowing my role in the organization was fulfilling the need I was hired to meet, and that I was doing everything we mutually agreed I should do.

Years ago I had the urge to physically volunteer for a good cause and it was quite rewarding.  Although I don’t physically volunteer there we continue to support their mission.

CASE MANAGEMENT – THE ORIGINAL DEFINITION

Case management is a cross-disciplinary specialty practice based in advocacy seeking to identify the resources people need to achieve physical and mental health.  But, is there more?

For all the environmental, productivity, and waste management benefits of going paperless, few companies have come close to achieving it. The reason for this delay is simple: offices cannot afford the disruption that completely eliminating paper would create. Going from paper to electronic software isn't always easy.  

The 42nd annual Monitoring the Future study by the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research reports that teenager’s use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco declined significantly in 2016 to rates that are the lowest since the 1990s.  Teenage drug use is on the decline.

Is case management the best kept secret in healthcare?  With all the new "classifications" of how caseworkers and health care providers interact with their clients and patients such as "care coordination" and "patient advocating" - is the term case management getting lost?
