Tesla - “Oh…and it’s all electric”
A recent encounter with an eager, young representative (don’t call them salesman) in a Tesla store (not a showroom) first amused me, but then alerted me to the fact that I was guilty of a similar oversight in my own business.
“This little baby will go zero to 60 in 2.5 seconds,” he began. “Top speed of 140mph,” he added wide-eyed with a devilish grin. “This is more than a fancy family sedan. This car is really fun to drive. Climb in the cabin,” he suggested opening the door and guiding me into the driver’s seat. “You won’t feel like you’re sitting in a car. It’s more like the cockpit of an advanced jet fighter. And it rides like one, too. It has smart air suspension with GPS memory for automatically raising and lowering ride height. Each car comes standard with front and rear trunks, keyless entry with self-presenting door handles, ambient interior lighting and heated front seats…oh…and it’s all electric,” he reminded me and himself as an afterthought.
FAMCare
Not unlike the young Tesla representative, I love to talk about the advanced features that distinguish FAMCare case management software from all the rest. Every chance I get, I point out that our software is a web-based powerhouse that users can personalize and configure to their own needs, set case alerts, and create workflow utilizing real-time, advanced data analytics while functioning within a multi-dimensional security structure that allows for the creation of security groups based on “roles” at your agency.
Much like my friend the Tesla salesman, however, I have often failed to highlight the underlying intuitive design that sets Global Vision Technology’s case management software apart from all the rest.
Intuitive Design
Intuitive design is used to describe designs that are easy to use. So, when a user is able to understand and use a design immediately—that is, without consciously thinking about how to do it—we describe the design as “intuitive.” A technical system is intuitively usable to the degree the user is able to interact with it effectively by applying knowledge unconsciously.
Apple
The concept of “intuitive design” was introduced to the modern tech world by Steve Jobs. “The main thing in our design is that we have to make things intuitively obvious,” Jobs told [a] crowd of design mavens. The most obvious thing is that Jobs wanted his products to be simple above all else. He realized that for technology to be simple and easy to use, it had to be based on things that people already understood.
“People know how to deal with a desktop intuitively. If you walk into an office and there are papers on the desk the one on top is usually the most important. In this desk-top environment, people know how to switch priorities. They simply alter the pile. Part of the reason we model our computers on metaphors like the desktop is that we can leverage the experience people already have.”
Global Vision Technologies
GVT’s designers carefully gather knowledge of the case worker’s environment. By capitalizing on the principles that are found to be already present in the case worker’s mental toolbox, GVT designers endeavor to deliver a product that case workers can take to without having to hesitate and wonder how they should execute an action. In other words, FAMCare, when newly installed in an agency or used by a new employee for the first time, is simple and easy to use because it is based on things that case workers already understand. This is GVT’s intuitive design principle.
The Distinguishing Feature
FAMCare stands out among all the case management software on the market as the most intuitive and easiest to introduce to the first-time user. Because of the high turn-over rate in both government and non-profit agencies the time and cost of training employees is considerable. The intuitive nature of FAMCare software dramatically shortens the case worker’s learning curve allowing new employees to hit the ground running and saving agencies considerable time and money.

Like the fact that a Tesla is an electric vehicle should not be overlooked, the intuitive quality of FAMCare’s design is perhaps the feature that sets GVT’s case management software apart from all the rest. If you're interested in learning more or have a question about how FAMCare may help you...
