Top Ten Most Trusted Nonprofits

This year’s top ten most trusted nonprofit list is composed of familiar names with a bias toward healthcare, especially for children. Individuals gave more than $325 billion to the nonprofits they trusted the most in 2024. Like years past, we would like to acknowledge the top ten.

Most Trusted Nonprofits of 2024

  1. St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital - St. Jude is still leading the way by treating childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Their researchers and doctors work together to turn laboratory breakthroughs into lifesaving treatments for children from across the United States and around the world and provide cutting-edge treatments at no cost to families.

  2. Make-A-Wish Foundation - Make-A-Wish traces its inspiration to Christopher James Greicius, an energetic 7-year-old boy battling leukemia who wished to be a police officer. In 1980, his Phoenix community came together to make his wish come true. Little did Chris know that his wish would create a movement that would transform millions of lives. Make-A-Wish has granted hundreds of thousands of life-changing wishes to children battling critical illnesses.

  3. American Heart Association - The American Heart Association is dedicated to fighting our nation's No. 1 and No. 5 killers - heart disease and stroke. The association is engaged in lifesaving research, advocating for healthier communities, and improving patient care.

  4. American Red Cross - Red Cross volunteers work to deliver vital services from providing relief and support to those in crisis, to helping families and communities prepare for emergencies. The Red Cross focuses on 5 essential services: 1. Disaster Relief 2. Blood Services 3. Training & Certification 4. Service to the Armed Forces and 5. International Services.

  5. Special Olympics - Special Olympics supports over 5 million athletes, unified partners, coaches and volunteers with 32 Olympic-type sports for improving the health and well-being of people with physical and intellectual disabilities.

  6. Habitat for Humanity- Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in approximately 70 countries. Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat focuses on 2 primary areas: 1. Partnership Housing and 2. The Fund for Humanity. Partnership Housing is centered on those in need of adequate shelter working side-by-side with volunteers to build decent, affordable homes at no profit. New homeowners’ house payments are combined with no-interest loans provided by supporters and money earned by fundraising to create the Fund, which is then used to build more homes.

  7. American Cancer Society - In 2023, The American Cancer Society helped 152 million people. Since its inception in 1946, it has invested $5billion in research, provided 759k free rides to treatment, 500k free lodging nights and boasts 18m survivors still alive today.

  8. Shriners Hospital for Children - Shriners Children’s has been providing hope and healing to children for more than 100 years. Shriners Children’s is committed to conducting research that will improve medical treatments and quality of life for children.

  9. Ronald McDonald House - Ronald McDonald House Charities is a nonprofit family & children's charity dedicated to supporting families with sick children in their time of need. In 1974, McDonald’s owner/operators in Philadelphia donated proceeds from the sale of Shamrock Shakes to fulfill Dr. Audrey Evans’ dream of a house that could serve as a temporary residence for families of children being treated at her hospital, which led to the first Ronald McDonald House. Today, RMHC has grown to over 380 chapters in 62 countries worldwide and now includes two additional core programs: Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.

  10. Mayo Clinic - In 1864, Dr. W.W. and Louise Mayo were so dedicated to serving patients that they mortgaged their home to buy a microscope. Today, Mayo Clinic is regularly acknowledged as among the very best in the nation in the following specialties: Cancer, Cardiology, Heart Surgery, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Neurology, and Orthopedics.
