Politics.

A subject that divides so many of us. An issue that creates so many issues. A topic that so many let ruin relationships of many kinds. Why? It is a way to try and convince others of your beliefs when it is in fact a lost cause.

Everyone comes from different places, different experiences. Everyone has been through certain hardships or dealt with certain unfortunate circumstances. These situations help create your 'frame of reference'.  These all define your beliefs. The truth is, no matter how many arguments or “debates” two or more people have, you will never convince someone to believe what you do.  You can only provide good, clear information or educate them as to the facts and let them make their own decisions for their benefit.

If you believe in something, do not shove it down other’s throats. Instead of people getting into nasty arguments, choose to not bring up the topic. Instead of being adamant that your way is the right way and everyone else is wrong, rethink starting a conversation.

So many are so concerned about what they believe, they lose sight of respect. No matter what your beliefs may be, where you came from, what you do, respect others and don’t let politics define your character. This election has affected so many and in the end, what really does it do for you to argue with someone of opposite beliefs? Nothing. It will continue to be the same while you lose friendships and continue the bitterness.
